Abhaya Case Update: Supreme Court Allows Hearing in High Court

Fresh Update in RGKar Murder Case
Abhaya’s family has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking a more detailed and in-depth investigation into the RG Kar case. On Thursday, the parents of the victim doctor drew the attention of Justice Tirthankar Ghosh. Abhaya’s parents had approached the Calcutta High Court seeking a more detailed CBI investigation into the RG tax case.
But the High Court did not want to hear the victim’s family’s plea as the RG Kar case was pending in the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court said that the High Court can hear the petition if the victim’s family files it. Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna of the country’s highest court said there is no obstacle to hearing the petition.
The victim’s parents had requested that it would be easier for them to attend the hearing of their case in the Calcutta High Court, as they were having trouble travelling to Delhi for the Supreme Court hearings. On Monday, the RG Kar case came up before the bench of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The family’s lawyer then drew attention to the matter. The bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna allowed the hearing of the case in the Calcutta High Court.
The family has expressed dissatisfaction with the CBI investigation into the rape and murder of a young doctor in the RG Kar case. Even the main accused Sanjay Roy has been identified as an accused in the charge sheet. However, the Sealdah court has already ordered life imprisonment for Sanjay. However, Sanjay is not the only one guilty of such a big case, this is the demand of Abhaya’s family and the agitating junior doctors.
