Sri Lanka is currently facing tough times with Economical Crisis going on in the Island Nation. In this tough times, Sri Lanka is left with only a day’s stock of Petrol. According to the Minister of Power and Energy, three vessels are reaching Sri Lanka from India, under the Indian Line of Credit. Out of which only one vessel contains about 38,000 MT of Petrol. Out of this 38,000 MT, there is about 30,000 MT of Octane 92 Petrol and there is about 8,000 MT of Octane 95 Petrol.ย

Most modern engines are designed to minimally burn 95-octane petrol efficiently. This means that fewer and fewer new cars are suited to use 92-octane. While 92-octane is cheaper than 95-octane, it might come at the cost of your car’s condition.
Dasun Edirisinghe, a Senior Journalist from Sri Lanka told News Tap Global, quoting Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and a few trade unions, that this fuel could give Sri Lanka about 16 days of petrol stock.

Sources in Sri Lanka told News Tap Global that, “three ships carryingย  crude oil, furnace oil, and 92-95 octane petrol ordered on spot tendering are still to clear due to lack of funds”.
