C.V. Ananda Bose Resigns from the post of the Governor of West Bengal ahead Assembly Election

C.V. Ananda Bose has resigned from the position of West Bengal’s Governor today, March 5, 2026. As per the report, he submitted his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu, citing health issues as the reason. Though no clear statement has been provided by the Governor himself.


Governor’s stepping down from the post ahead of West Bengal’s assembly election caught the attention of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Posting on X, she expressed her concern about the sudden resignation of the Governor and wrote that she was unaware of it.

She further added, that it would not be surprising if the resignation came under pressure, taking a jab at the Union Home Minister for the incident.


According to the information provided to Mamata by the Union Home Minister, R.N Ravi has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal.
โ€œHe never consulted with me as per the established convention in this regard.โ€, wrote Mamata questioning the move by the Union Home Minister.
