Youth Rush for Aid: Banglar Yuva Sathi Scheme Draws Huge Crowds

Across West Bengal, thousands of young people are lining up to apply for the Banglar Yuva Sathi Scheme, which offers a monthly unemployment allowance of โน1,500 to eligible youth between 21 and 40 years old.
The scheme, launched by the West Bengal government, aims to provide financial support to unemployed youth until they secure employment or for up to five years. To be eligible, applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal, have passed at least Class 10, and be currently unemployed.
The application process is being conducted through special camps set up in all 294 Assembly constituencies, and online applications will be accepted from April 1, 2026.The scheme has been welcomed by many, but Opposition parties have criticized it as a pre-election gop, questioning the government’s ability to provide jobs.
