Woman Kills Lover After Being Blackmailed in Bijnor
On August 25, 2025, police in Uttar Pradeshโs Bijnor district arrested Muni Devi, 47, after she allegedly murdered her secret lover, 50-year-old farmer Harpal Singh, in a shocking act of desperation and betrayal. The two had maintained a clandestine affair for nearly three years. When Muni attempted to end the relationship, Harpal began blackmailing her, using compromising audio and video recordings to threaten exposure to her husband.
A Plan Takes Fatal Shape
According to police, the woman had been under psychological pressure for months as the man allegedly threatened to expose their relationship to her family and community. Investigators believe that repeated blackmail attempts not only strained her mental health but also pushed her to consider a desperate way out. On the night of the crime, she allegedly lured the victim to a secluded spot under the pretext of meeting in private. Once there, she used a household tool to strike him fatally. The premeditated element has become central to the police case, since evidence suggests she carried the weapon with her in advance. Officers are treating the act as a calculated decision rather than a crime of sudden passion. This angle has already shaped how prosecutors are preparing to frame charges in court.
Investigative Breakthrough Through Digital Trails
The investigation revealed the victimโs phone records. Call logs and location data revealed frequent contact with the woman, even during late hours, which raised suspicion. Messages recovered from encrypted apps showed traces of arguments and demands, strengthening the blackmail narrative. Furthermore, CCTV footage from nearby streets confirmed the movement of the victim toward the meeting spot where his body was later discovered. Once police combined these digital leads with witness statements, the trail led directly to the woman. Police took her into custody, and during questioning, she reportedly confessed to the crime.
Authorities recovered the weapon from the crime scene. A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bengal Nagpur State (BNS) murder statute. Muni remains in custody as courts process the charges.
