Indian Shooter Manu Bhaker Wins Bronze in Asian Championship

19 August-Kolkata, India: The in-form Manu Bhaker won the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol category of the Asian Shooting Championship on Tuesday at Shymkent, Kazakhstan. With a score of 219.7 in the eight-woman finals, the 2024 Paris Olympics winner Bhaker claimed the event’s last medal.

India finishes third in the event

The Indian trio of Suruchi Singh, Manu Bhaker, and Palak finished third in the team event with a combined score of 1730, securing the bronze medal and placing third in the team standings. With this, team India came in behind gold medalist China with 1740 and silver medalist Republic of Korea with 1731.

In the women’s 10m air pistol, China’s Quianke Ma defeated Korea’s Jiin Yang, who came second place with 241.6 points, while Quianke Ma conquered the gold and first position with 243.2 points.

Manu Bhaker, a 23-year-old Indian, advanced to the final and finished third with 583 points overall. After Korea’s Yejin Oh, who had the highest qualification score of 585, competed solely for ranking points, Chinese shooter Qianxun Yao went to the final as the top-ranked shooter.

Other Participants in the event

Meanwhile, some Indians, such as Suruchi Singh, finished in 12th position with 574 points, while Esha Singh, competing solely for ranking points, came in ninth with 577. Surbhi Rao (RPO) finished 25th with 570, while Palak finished 17th with 573.
