Kashmir Valley Under Siege: Anti-Terror Operation Enters Record 9th Day

9 August-Kolkata, India: On Saturday, a shootout in the Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir killed at least two Indian military personnel as it began its ninth day, and the operation continues, which is also the valley’s longest anti-terror operation.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps declared Lance/Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh dead after they lost their lives in the Kulgam anti-terror shootout.

The Chinar Corps posted a message on X expressing, “Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. IndianArmy stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and expresses deepest condolences. Operation continues.”

According to some sources, the operation has injured eleven security personnel since it started. The operation is still in progress, and we anticipate more information.

The encounter, which started on August 1 when security forces established a perimeter and conducted a search in a woodland area in Akhal in the south Kashmir state, has resulted in the deaths of two terrorists.

The joint anti-terror operation is named ‘Operation Akhal’, and it was launched immediately after the information about the presence of terrorists in the area was confirmed. The para commandos are also assisting with the Chinar Corps to locate and eliminate the terrorists in their hideout with the help of drones and helicopters.

Army officers and senior police members, including the Army’s Northern Commander, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, and Nalin Prabhat, the police chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, closely monitor the anti-terror operation.
