Serve the Nation, We’ll Defend Your Rights’: India Launches Legal Aid Scheme for Soldiers’ Families

In a historic step to support India’s armed forces, the government has launched the NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025, a groundbreaking scheme offering free legal aid to families of serving soldiers and paramilitary personnel.

Launched today in Srinagar by Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the next Chief Justice of India, the scheme promises to ease the burden of domestic legal battles while soldiers serve in high-risk and remote border regions.

“You defend the borders, we’ll defend your family’s legal rights,” Justice Kant declared during the launch, emphasizing the judiciary’s duty towards the nation’s protectors.

Deployed jawans often face legal hurdles back home land disputes, family property cases, or custody issues but cannot attend court hearings due to leave constraints. This scheme ensures proactive legal representation across India, allowing our armed forces to focus on national duty without legal distractions.
