Trump refutes Macron’s claim on early G7 exit, says ‘Emmanuel always gets it wrong’ over Iran-Israel ceasefire

U.S. President Donald Trump is once again making headlines—this time for his unexpected early departure from the G7 Summit in Canada. According to French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump left the summit to focus on brokering a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. However, Trump has firmly denied this claim.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Publicity-seeking President Emmanuel Macron of France mistakenly said I left the G7 Summit in Canada to return to D.C. and work on a ‘ceasefire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I’m headed back to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a ceasefire. It’s something much bigger. Whether intentionally or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong.”

Macron had earlier told reporters that Trump’s early exit might be linked to U.S. efforts to initiate a ceasefire between the warring nations. He mentioned there had been “an offer to meet and exchange” with the goal of de-escalation, expressing hope that U.S. influence over Israel could lead to progress.

Meanwhile, as tensions between Iran and Israel mount, Trump reaffirmed his support for Israel, warning that Iran must return to negotiations “before it’s too late,” and emphasizing that Iran “will not be winning the war against Tel Aviv”.
