Haryana CM Urges Hindu Leaders to Opt for Prayers Over Procession Amid Communal Tensions in Nuh

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar Appeals to Hindu Organization Leaders to Visit Temples and Offer Prayers Instead of Procession

Nuh, August 28: In the aftermath of the recent violent communal clashes that took place a few days ago, today witnessed a significant development as the Sarvajatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat (All-Caste Hindu Assembly) of Nuh, Haryana, decided to organize a grand procession. The procession, which aimed to promote peace and communal harmony, was scheduled to take place today, August 28. However, local police authorities denied permission for the procession, citing concerns about maintaining law and order.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader, Brig Mandal, emphasized that there is no need for any formal permission for the Shobha Yatra (Procession of Dignity), as it is a religious pilgrimage primarily involving rituals and prayers. He stated, “As per the schedule, we will conduct the yatra on Monday, August 28, at 11 AM. A water blessing procession will also take place. Since this is a pilgrimage, we do not require permission.”

Nuh was the site of a massive communal violence incident that occurred on July 3, during which six lives were lost, and both public and private properties suffered significant damage. The incident led to a curfew imposition in the district for five days. Presently, the district is under heightened police deployment and security measures.

In light of these recent events, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar made a plea to the leaders of various Hindu organizations to opt for peaceful religious activities instead of processions that could potentially escalate tensions. He suggested visiting temples and participating in prayer sessions to promote unity and harmony among the different communities in the region.

The state continues to grapple with the aftermath of the violent clashes, focusing on restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety of all residents. The denial of permission for the procession underscores the delicate situation prevailing in the area, necessitating careful consideration of public gatherings and events to prevent any further escalation of violence.
