Karnataka Congress chief says he would be happy to work with Kharge if elected chief minister
DK Shivakumar, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), stated on Saturday that if elected chief minister, he would like to serve under party President Mallikarjun Kharge. DK Shivakumar told reporters that Mallikarjun Kharge is an asset to the nation and the state. He is willing to follow any decision made by the party.
The Congress state chief said that Kharge is 20 years senior to him, and DK Shivakumar is ready to make way for Kharge to be the chief minister of the state. โKharge has made many sacrifices for the party. I will happily work with him if he becomes the chief minister,โ DK Shivakumar said.
Shivakumar further said that the senior party leader (Kharge) became the national president of the party, starting from a block leader. “This can happen only in Congress,” added DK Shivakumar. “Since he has made as AICC president, it has boosted our party in the state,” DK Shivkumar told the reporters.
