Karnataka Congress must give at least 25-30 Muslim tickets: Sunni Ulama Board
A segment of Muslim leadership from the Karnataka Sunni Ulama Board have voiced unhappiness that the Congress has offered tickets to only 11 candidates from the community out of a list of 166 names disclosed so far. Leaders of the Muslim community felt “betrayed” by the Karnataka congress. They warned Congress that if they did not offer them tickets, the party would lose Muslim support.
Prior of the important Karnataka legislative elections, the Congress party, which is attempting to topple the BJP, is experiencing a rebellion from Muslim leaders, who believe that they are not being given adequate representation.
“Before elections, Congress makes pledges to Muslim leaders but fails to keep them. I believe that Muslim candidates should be given at least 25-30 tickets in Congress. The party should also have a Muslim candidate for Deputy Chief Minister”. According to Mohammed Qari Zulfikar Noori, a member of the Karnataka Sunni Ulama Board. Noori told this while talking to private news channel India Today.
