Delhi/India: The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for Elections in the 5 Poll Bound states namely Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur. The dates are as mentioned below.
Uttar Pradesh:
1st Phase: 10th February 2022 (58 Seats)
2nd Phase: 14th February 2022 (55 Seats)
3rd Phase: 20th February 2022 (59 Seats)
4th Phase: 23rd February 2022 (60 Seats)
5th Phase: 27th February 2022 (60 Seats)
6th Phase: 3rd March 2022 (Seats 57)
7th Phase: 7th March 2022 (Seats 54)
Manipur:
1st Phase: 27th February 2022
2nd Phase: 3rd March 2022
Uttarakhand: 14th February 2022 (Polls to take place in a single phase)
Punjab: 14th February 2022 (Polls to take place in a single phase)
Goa: 14th February 2022 (Polls to take place in a single phase)
The counting would be done on: 10th March 2022.
The Election Commission of India also laid out some rules:
• No physical rallies, roadshows, padhyatras, cycle rallies, etc till the 15th of January 2022.
• Model Code of Conduct is in place with immediate effect.
• Polling time will be extended by an hour.
• Candidates will be given an option to file their Nominations via online means.
• No campaigning between 8pm to 8am.
• Only 5 people are permitted to do door to door campaigning.
• ECI has asked Political Parties to prefer Virtual Campaign.
The dates when the current governments in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Manipur are:
Punjab: 23rd March 2022
Uttarakhand: 23rd March 2022
Uttar Pradesh: 14th May 2022
Goa: 14th March 2022
Manipur: 19th March 2022
Total Assembly Constituencies in each state are:
Punjab: 117 Seats
Uttarakhand: 70 Seats
Uttar Pradesh: 403 Seats
Goa: 40 Seats
Manipur: 60 Seats
