LTTE militants who killed Rajiv Gandhi, were trained in India by Intel agency
While a civil war was being fought in Sri Lanka, India through its intelligence agency R&AW sent and supplied arms, training and financial support to many insurgency groups. This was happening from Aug 1983 to May 1987. During this period, there were 32 camps set up in India to train 495 LTTE insurgents. Camps were held secretly in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were the Prime Ministers in this time period, when all these events took place.
Prabakaran visited the first 2 batches and took note of the training.
Those who assassinated Rajiv Gandhi were trained in Nainital, Uttarakhand.
