Farm Laws Explained | Hypocrisy of Politics Exposed

The controversial Agricultural Reforms were passed by the Rajya Sabha on 20th September 2020. These laws were brought in with a huge ruckus in the Rajya Sabha. The opposition created a huge ruckus in the Rajya Sabha, alleging that the deputy chairman of the upper house refused for a particular procedure, while passing these reforms. The Dy chairman has refused any such allegations, he also said, that the opposition refused to go on their seats to perform all the procedures. Mics of the chairmen were broken, Rule books were torn and COVID-19 precautions were flouted. 

What are these Controversial Agricultural Reforms?

There were 2 laws which were passed, they are “The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020” and “The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020”. Going into these two laws in detail:-

The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020:

This reform allows the Farmers to sell their produce outside Mandis, where ever the Farmer gets the best price. If a Farmer wants to sell the produce intra or inter state, the transportation cost will not be burdened on the Farmer. This also allows the Farmer to sell their produce Directly and will also help avoiding the “Middle Men”. The Farmers are also given Freedom to trade their produce at Farmgate, Cold Storages, Warehouses, Processing Units, etc. 

What the farmers fear in this Bill?

• MSP will stop.
• APMCs will stop.

What the Government Assures?

• MSP will continue as usual.
• APMCs and all the other Mandis will function as usual.

The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020

This reform allows Farmers to make a contract with Wholesalers, large retailers, exporters, etc. This will prevent risk of market’s unpredictability. Farmers can also get access to modern technologies. This reform reduces the cost of marketing, because of which their income increases. 

What the farmers fear in this Bill?

• Farmers will come under pressure to reduce price under a contract with a Retailer, Wholesalers, etc.
• In case of any dispute, big companies will be at advantages.

What the Government Assures?

• Farmers have full rights and power to fix a price in a contract with big companies.
• In case of any dispute, there will be NO NEED of the farmer to visit the courts frequently, There will be a local dispute redressal mechanism.

The Government is very keen on solving all the problems of the farmers, where as farmers are been HYPNOTISED by the opposition parties for their own political jealousy.

Hypocrisy of Jealousy  

The Indian National Congress : 

This party, which was once India’s only ruling party, now is a party which is being wiped out of the country. In this event, Congress in their 2019 General Election Manifesto mentioned that, if Congress would come to power, they would bring all the above mentioned Reforms.

This shows, how desperate the congress is to go Anti Modi.
