Annapurna Scheme Beneficiaries Protest Over Unpaid Money

Women across West Bengal are protesting over not receiving money under the Annapurna scheme.
They say the money has not reached their bank accounts on time, even though they were promised payment. Protests were held outside SDO offices in Ghatal, Malda, Purulia, Bankura and Asansol.
In North 24 Parganas, a roadblock on Jessore Road caused heavy traffic. Many women said they have not received the money for three months despite being eligible.
At the Ghatal SDO office, several women protested and expressed their anger. They said their applications were approved on the government portal, but they still did not get the money.
Many women from poor families said they depend on this money. They demanded that the government pay all the pending money as soon as possible.
