CPIM Leader Biman Bose Gets Pacemaker at Delhi AIIMS, Health Now Stable

Senior CPIM leader and Left Front chairman Biman Bose is currently stable after undergoing a surgery at Delhi’s AIIMS. Doctors have implanted a pacemaker in his body after he suddenly fell ill while travelling from Kolkata to Delhi.

The 87-year-old CPIM leader was travelling to Delhi by flight on Friday to attend a party programme. During the journey, he suddenly felt unwell. After landing at Delhi airport, he went to the party office at A.K. Gopalan Bhavan.

Doctors examined him there and expressed concern over his oxygen level. They advised him to be admitted to a hospital immediately. Party workers then took him to AIIMS.

After further tests at AIIMS, doctors decided to admit him and provide him with oxygen support. He was kept under observation.

On Saturday, CPIM state secretary Mohammed Salim said Biman Bose had undergone a operation and a pacemaker had been successfully implanted. He said the veteran leader is now stable and there is no immediate cause for concern.

Doctors will continue to monitor his condition. If his health remains stable, Bose could be discharged from the hospital within the next two or three days and may return to Kolkata.

According to party sources, Bose follows a disciplined lifestyle and remains active despite his age. He also regularly undergoes health check-ups. During his Delhi visits, he usually had routine check-ups at AIIMS.
This time, however, he fell ill before the planned check-up and was admitted to the hospital on doctors’ advice. He remains under medical observation at AIIMS.
