The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) commenced the Higher Secondary (Class 12) Board Examinations 2026 today, with over 7.1 lakh students appearing across the state.

The examinations began under tight security and administrative arrangements, as authorities ensured smooth conduct at thousands of exam centers spread across West Bengal. Students from science, arts, and commerce streams reported to their respective centers early in the morning, carrying admit cards and essential documents as instructed by the board.
Special Arrangements & Traffic Regulations
In Kolkata and several district headquarters, special traffic control measures were implemented to prevent congestion near examination centers. Police personnel were deployed to manage vehicle movement and ensure that candidates reached venues without difficulty.
Officials have urged guardians and commuters to cooperate with traffic advisories during exam hours.

The board has instructed students to:
- Reach exam centres at least 30 minutes before reporting time
- Carry their admit card and required stationery
- Avoid carrying electronic gadgets such as mobile phones and smart devices
