CRPF Constable, Wife Arrested for Brutal Abuse of 10-Year-Old Girl in Greater Noida

Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh — A 10-year-old girl is fighting for her life on a ventilator after brutal abuse, police said. A CRPF constable and his wife have been arrested for allegedly beating and starving the child at their official residence in a CRPF camp in Greater Noida.

Police identified the accused as Constable Tariq Anwar of the 235th Battalion and his wife Rimpa Khatoon. They were taken into custody after a written complaint from a senior CRPF officer sparked an investigation.

The girl, originally from Malda district, West Bengal, had been living with the couple for about 40 days before the case came to light. She was reportedly brought to Greater Noida to work as a domestic helper and care for the couple’s younger children.

Police said the abuse was not limited to occasional punishment. The couple allegedly forced her to do housework and repeatedly assaulted her over minor issues. On the night of January 14–15, the girl was violently beaten, leaving her critically injured.

Instead of reporting the injuries, the accused first took her to Sarvodaya Hospital in Bisrakh, claiming she had slipped in the bathroom. Medical staff suspected abuse and made a medico-legal report.

Doctors found multiple old and new injuries, including fractured ribs, deep wounds, torn nails and signs of prolonged starvation. Her haemoglobin level was dangerously low at 1.9, indicating severe malnutrition. She was later shifted to Max Hospital, Sector 128, Noida, where she remains on ventilator support.

Police registered a case under Section 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempt to commit culpable homicide. The CRPF has suspended Constable Anwar and initiated an internal inquiry.

Officials from the Child Welfare Committee are involved and overseeing the girl’s care. Relatives from West Bengal have also travelled to Noida amid the ongoing investigation.
