Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation of Bombay High Court and Multiple Courts in Mumbai

Mumbai: Security agencies were put on high alert on Tuesday after a bomb threat led to the evacuation of the Bombay High Court and several Magistrate Courts across Mumbai, temporarily disrupting judicial work in the city.

According to officials, threat messages were received earlier in the day, prompting authorities to immediately activate standard security protocols. Court premises in South Mumbai, Bandra, Andheri and other locations were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Judges, lawyers, court staff and visitors were asked to leave the buildings while security teams conducted checks.

The Bomb Disposal Squad and local police units were deployed to carry out detailed anti-sabotage inspections. Entry and exit points were sealed, and court proceedings were suspended during the security sweep. Officials said the move was purely preventive, aimed at ensuring the safety of all those present in court complexes.

A senior police officer confirmed that no suspicious object had been found during the initial searches, but thorough checks were continued across all affected locations. Authorities are also working to trace the origin of the threat messages.

Due to the evacuation, several hearings scheduled for the day were either postponed or adjourned. Lawyers and litigants faced inconvenience, but most welcomed the precautionary steps taken by the administration.

Security at courts in Mumbai has been tightened in recent months following similar threats to public institutions across the country. Officials said normal court functioning would resume only after receiving full clearance from security agencies.
