Cyclone Ditwah set to hit Tamil Nadu Tomorrow; Red Alert issued in key Districts 

In a tense buildup along India’s southeastern coast, Cyclonic Storm Ditwah continues its approach toward Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh, with landfall expected on November 30.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm which remains classified as a cyclonic storm with no signs of further intensification has already carved a trail of destruction in Sri Lanka, where it struck the eastern coast on Friday, leaving over 120 people dead and causing severe damage.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had extended his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in Sri Lanka and wished a swift recovery for the affected communities. As Ditwah moves northwest toward India, authorities have stepped up preparedness efforts along the coastline.

The Tamil Nadu government has issued a red alert for four districts and an orange alert for five others, urging residents to remain indoors, secure essential supplies, and follow official advisories. 

Disaster response teams have been placed on high readiness, with coastal evacuation plans and relief measures underway.

As the region braces for the incoming storm, officials emphasised the significance of caution, adding that continuous updates would be provided as Ditwah moves closer to landfall.
