Delhi Bomb Blast Red Fort Metro Station Gate 1 Highlights: A thorough investigation into the Red Fort blast will be conducted and “no possibility is being ruled out”, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, adding that he will visit the blast site and the hospital where the injured have been taken. At least eight people were killed and several injured in the blast. A high alert has been sounded in Delhi.
On Monday (November 10) evening, Delhi was rocked by a powerful explosion. A car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station suddenly exploded. Within moments, the fire spread to three or four other nearby cars. The impact of the explosion shattered the windows of nearby shops, spreading panic in the area. On receiving the information, the Delhi Police and the fire brigade quickly reached the spot.
The Delhi Fire Department said that at least 15 fire engines were sent to the spot after receiving information about the explosion. Police and fire personnel also started rescue operations along with extinguishing the fire. The injured were rushed to LNJP Hospital. A high alert was sounded across the capital after the explosion.
Delhi Police’s Special Cell and Bomb Disposal Team have already started investigating the spot. Police sources said that several vehicles in the vicinity were damaged in the blast. After the incident, the police cordoned off the entire area and stopped normal vehicular movement.
After the blasts, not only Delhi, but also Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Mumbai have been put on alert. Security has been beefed up in border areas, with additional police forces deployed at important locations.
The area adjacent to the Red Fort is one of the busiest areas in Delhi. In the evening, the local market here is crowded, many tourists also come to visit. At such a time, the explosion has raised big questions about the security system of the city. Police and intelligence agencies are investigating the cause of the explosion and the conspiracy behind it. At least 8 people died in this incident. 30 more were injured.
