Father arrested for attempting to rape his daughter in Rangpur, Bangladesh

Rangpur, November 06: A 20-year-old girl took refuge in her father’s house, the only place of faith, because she could not reconcile with her husband. But she never imagined that her father would cast evil eye on her. One day, when her father called her to his bedroom on the pretext of stepping on her feet. That day, the girl realized that her biological father was trying to make her a victim of lust. The father forcibly threw the girl on the bed and tried to rape her. The girl somehow managed to save her honor.

Such a heinous incident has taken place in Nijpara village of Kaunia upazila of Rangpur, Bangladesh. The man named Md. Alamgir Hossain (48) has been arrested on charges of attempting to rape his own daughter. It is learned that Alamgir Hossain’s married daughter recently moved to her father’s house due to a disagreement with her husband. She alleged that her father had been giving her an evil eye for a long time. On October 31, around 8:30 am, Alamgir Hossain called her daughter to his bedroom on the pretext of stepping on her feet and tried to rape her forcibly. When her mother Beauty Begum and locals came forward to hear her screams, the accused fled.

After being on the run, when Alamgir Hossain returned home on the morning of November 4, an agitated mob detained him and thrashed him, and later informed the police. Upon receiving the information, Kaunia police station went to the spot and took the accused into custody.

Kaunia Police Station OC Abdul Latif Shah said that a case was registered on November 5 under Section 9(4)(b) of the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act 2000 (Amendment 2025) based on the written complaint of the victim girl. The accused was arrested immediately after the incident. He was sent to jail through the court.
