Indian Diaspora in Tokyo Welcomes PM Modi with Enthusiasm

29 August-Kolkata, India: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community residing in Tokyo on Friday as he began his trip to Japan.

PM Modi said that “Deeply touched by the warmth and affection of the Indian community here in Tokyo. Their commitment to preserving our cultural roots while contributing meaningfully to Japanese society is truly commendable.”

PM Modi responded by meeting and greeting guests at a Tokyo hotel. Members of the Indian community in Japan waved the national flag and sang “Bharat Mata ki Jai” as they greeted the prime minister.

The Indian PM will meet his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba, to hold a bilateral meeting at the India-Japan Summit today. During the talks, Japan is likely to agree to triple its investment objective in India during the summit meetings, which will take place on the first day of his trip.

Japanese people display Indian culture

A huge group of the Japanese community also welcomed the Indian PM in their nation’s capital with some traditional Indian cultural performances. Some Japanese were also seen wearing Rajasthani attire to welcome the Indian PM.

A Japanese woman stated that it had been a great chance to perform for Prime Minister Modi and that ” she was very happy. She mentioned that she had performed Mohiniattam, a South Indian classical dance form, in which she had more than 25 years of experience. She explained that although the dance was an individual form, they had made it a group performance for Prime Minister Modi.”

On his recent visit to Japan, the Indian PM said that both nations will turn their entire focus on shaping the “next phase in our Special Strategic and Global Partnership”, which, according to him, has advanced significantly and steadily during the previous eleven years.

He further added that “We would endeavour to give new wings to our collaboration, expand scope and ambition of our economic and investment ties, and advance cooperation in new and emerging technologies, including AI and semiconductors.”

Both the nation’s leader Ishiba and Modi will most likely travel to Sendai city travelling by high-speed rail to a semiconductor plant.
