MP Sudha Ramakrishnan’s Gold Chain Snatched in Delhi’s High-Security Chanakyapuri
New Delhi: Congress MP Sudha Ramakrishnan reported a shocking case of chain snatching in Delhi’s diplomatic zone Chanakyapuri on Monday morning. The incident has raised major concerns over women’s safety even in high-security areas of the national capital.
Incident Details
The snatching took place between 6:15 AM and 6:20 AM on August 4 while MP Ramakrishnan was walking with Rajya Sabha MP Rajathi near Gates 3 and 4 of the Polish Embassy.
According to her complaint, a man wearing a full helmet on a two-wheeler approached from the opposite side and snatched her gold chain before fleeing.
She wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, describing the attack as a “blatant and shocking assault” in a zone that is meant to be heavily guarded.
MP’s Statement

She added that she sustained neck injuries, and her churidhar was torn during the snatching. Both MPs shouted for help but received no immediate assistance. Eventually, they located a Delhi Police patrol vehicle and registered the complaint.
Police Response
A case has been registered, and multiple police teams are now investigating.
CCTV footage is being reviewed, and witnesses are being interviewed.
Authorities are tracking the accused’s escape route and any unusual movement in the area.
MP’s Demand
Sudha Ramakrishnan has urged the Home Minister to:
Ensure prompt investigation and justice
Recover the stolen gold chain
Enhance security measures in high-profile zones
