Elon Musk ‘regrets’ some of his posts about Donald Trump, says they went ‘too far’

Tesla CEO and former ‘friend’ of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, on Wednesday said that he ‘regrets’ a few posts he made on social media in relation to the US President.

A feud erupted between the two following Musk’s exit from the White House. It all began when the US entrepreneur criticised Trump’s ‘The Big Beautiful Bill’ and labelled it as ‘The Big Ugly Bill.’

Musk’s post comes days after Trump said his relationship with the SpaceX CEO was over.

“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” he said in his latest post on X.

The Trump-Musk breakup

The Tesla CEO recently stepped down from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and since then he launched a three-day social media offensive against the Trump-backed reconciliation bill recently passed by the House.

Last week, Elon Musk, who contributed nearly US$300 million to support President Donald Trump’s re-election, had accused his ‘friend’ of appearing in the still-unreleased Jeffrey Epstein investigation files, reigniting scrutiny over the long-shielded documents and intensifying a public fallout between two of the world’s most powerful men.

The tech billionaire, who once shared a close political and personal rapport with Trump, had posted the claim on X, the platform he owns. However, he deleted the post later on Sunday.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk had claimed in the now deleted post.

In a follow-up post, he added: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

Musk also agreed to another post which called for impeachment of the Republican leader.

As for Trump, he had said that he is ‘disappointed’ in Musk. “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will any more… He hasn’t said bad about me personally, but I’m sure that’ll be next,” he had said during a briefing in White House.
