Shreyas Iyer named ICC Player of the Month for March

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for March 2025, as Shreyas Iyer of India and Georgia Voll of Australia.

Iyer emerged as the top run-scorer with a total of 243 runs, surpassing New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra in the ODI competition. In the women’s category, Voll beat her compatriot Annabel Sutherland and the USA’s Chetnaa Prasad to get the award.

This is Iyer’s second ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. With 172 runs coming at an average of 57.33 during the final three games of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, Iyer was a leading light for India as they won the CT for third time.

Iyer reacts, “I’m truly honoured…”

“I’m truly honoured to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month where we lifted the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy — a moment I will cherish forever,” Iyer said in a release by ICC.

In a crucial group stage match against New Zealand, Shreyas Iyer delivered a match-winning performance, scoring 79 runs off 98 balls to secure India’s victory and propel the team forward in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

“Being able to contribute to India’s success on such a big stage is something every cricketer dreams of. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support and belief,” he said.

Iyer played a crucial role in India’s semi-final and final matches. He contributed in a vital 45-run partnership with Virat Kohli against Australia. He then helped in laying the groundwork for a successful run chase in the final against New Zealand. In the latter match, he contributed a quick-fire 48 runs off 62 balls. It helped India to chase the 252-run target and claim the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 title.

India has now secured the award in consecutive months. Shubman Gill received the honor for the month of February.
