Enhancing Regional Connectivity: Recent Development in BIMSTEC

BIMSTEC, established on June 6, 1997, aims to enhance connectivity and cooperation among its seven member states: India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, and Thailand. The 6th BIMSTEC Summit, hosted by Thailand, emphasized regional prosperity and resilience. Key outcomes included the adoption of the Bangkok Vision 2030 document, the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Agreement, and MoUs with the Indian Ocean Rim Association. India proposed initiatives like a Chamber of Commerce, underscoring BIMSTEC’s significance in fostering security and countering regional challenges.
