This needs to stop , goverment has to take action on this
Construction machinery lined up against a backdrop of wildlife in Hyderabad’s threatened wilderness, highlighting the conflict between development and conservation.
Hyderabad: The 400 acres of land in the Kancha Gachibowli village is in the IT corridor of Hyderabad. It has become the Ground Zero of a massive political row in the state. The Congress government lays claim to it.
Rohit Kumar and Naveen Kumar were described as students of HCU by the Gachibowli police station. However, a communique by the Deputy Commissioner of the Police on Monday said they were “not students there any more”. The police statement said they were arrested after a group tried to stop the development work. They did this forcibly. They also attacked the officials and workers with sticks and stones. An officer was injured in the violence. “There was no lathi charge on students. Nor were any students dragged from their hostels. This was wrongly alleged,” the statement read.
A Haven of Biodiversity Under Threat
Nestled within the bustling metropolis of Hyderabad, Telangana, lies a 400-acre wilderness area teeming with life. This vibrant ecosystem boasts a remarkable diversity. It houses 734 plant species and 220 bird species. It is home to a range of mammals, including deer and pythons. Centuries-old trees stand as silent witnesses to the passage of time, their roots anchoring a rich tapestry of life.
Development Project Looms Over Wilderness
However, this paradise is under imminent threat. A proposed development project, encompassing residential and commercial spaces, looms over the wilderness. If implemented, this development would irrevocably alter the landscape. It would displace countless species. It would also destroy a vital green lung in the city.
Environmentalists Fight for Preservation
Environmentalists and activists are raising their voices in protest, highlighting the ecological and cultural significance of this wilderness. They argue that the development project would destroy a vital habitat. It would also impact the city’s air quality, water resources, and overall environmental health.
A Plea for Action to Protect the Ecosystem
The fate of this 400-acre wilderness hangs in the balance. The authorities need to prioritize environmental protection and reconsider the proposed development project. The time for action is now, before this precious ecosystem is lost forever.
