Tragic Suicide of Intermediate Student in Rangareddy Exposes Alleged College Torture
NEWS OF OCTOBER 31st : With Agency Inputs
In a shocking and tragic incident that has left the community in despair, the lifeless body of an intermediate student was discovered hanging from his residence in Rangareddy district, Telangana, on Tuesday morning, in what appears to be a case of suicide. The incident has brought attention to the alleged mental torment faced by the student at the hands of college authorities.
The heartbreaking incident came to light when officials at the Meerpet Police Station were alerted. According to Sub-Inspector Sudhakar, the deceased has been identified as Vaibhav, an intermediate college student. The incident unfolded early Tuesday morning, when Vaibhav was found lifeless in his home. Preliminary investigations suggest that the young student might have taken this extreme step due to the unbearable pressure and torment he was subjected to by the college authorities.
Sudhakar stated, “An intermediate college student named Vaibhav was found hanging at his home. The incident happened this morning. He is suspected to have committed suicide because he could not bear the torture from the college authorities.”
To further shed light on the torment the student faced, an alleged letter written by the deceased has come to light. In the letter, Vaibhav mentions the pressure exerted on him by the college authorities, particularly singling out the Principal, Vice Principal, and Junior Lecturer, who had been relentless in their demands for higher marks.
Furthermore, the heartbreaking letter reveals Vaibhav’s plea to his parents not to enroll his brother in the same college, as he feared the same torment would befall him. The student also appealed to the college authorities to refrain from exerting undue pressure on students, highlighting the dire consequences that such actions can have on the mental well-being of young individuals.
The police have registered a case in this matter, and a thorough investigation is currently underway. The authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings of the investigation.
This tragic incident is a stark reminder of the immense stress and mental health challenges faced by students, particularly in the high-pressure environment of educational institutions. It also serves as a call to action for colleges and universities to prioritize the mental well-being of their students and ensure that their academic demands are balanced with proper support and guidance.
It’s worth noting that this unfortunate incident comes on the heels of another student suicide case earlier this month when a fourth-year student from Telangana’s Medak district was found hanging in an Indian Institute of Technology hostel room in Kharaghpur, West Bengal. These incidents underscore the urgent need for addressing the mental health issues faced by students across the country and the imperative for educational institutions to provide a safe and supportive environment for their students.
