BJP releases first list of Karnataka Assembly candidates – see full list
The first list of candidates for the Assembly elections in Karnataka has been released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Karnataka elections are set on May 10. On May 13, results will be made public. There are 189 candidates on the BJP’s initial list. There are 224 members of the Karnataka Legislature. According to BJP leader Arun Singh, the BJP has 30 candidates from the OBC, 30 from the SC, and 16 from the ST on its list for the Karnataka elections. Eight women and 52 fresh faces out of the 189 applicants are female. The chief minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai, will run for office from his customary Shiggaon seat.
Nine of the applicants on the first list are doctors, five are attorneys, three are academicians, one is a retired IAS official, one is a former IPS officer, three are retired government employees, and eight are social activists.
