Agnimitra Paul Accuses Previous Government Over Terror Links

West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul has criticised the previous government, claiming that West Bengal had become a safe place for terrorists and illegal activities. Speaking about the issue, Paul alleged that some illegal madrasas and illegal immigration were allowed to grow during the previous government.

She referred to the arrest of a suspected terrorist and claimed that he had stayed in an illegal madrasa. Paul also alleged that the person had voted several times despite questions over his identity.

The minister said the government would take steps against illegal activities and institutions operating without proper permission. She also said that legal madrasas should focus on modern education and help students build careers in fields such as medicine, engineering and civil services.

Her statements have started a political debate in West Bengal, with opposition parties and the ruling side making different claims about the issue.
