Hoax Bomb Threat Grounds IndiGo Kolkata–Shillong Flight, Sparks High Alert at CCU

A Kolkata to Shillong IndiGo flight (6E 7304/6E 3074) was forced to ground on Saturday, February 14, 2026, when a bomb threat in the form of a handwritten note was found in the aircraft lavatory moments before takeoff. The article, discovered at approximately 9:15 AM, led to evacuation in the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The number of cheques carried out before the security agencies declared the threat a hoax and released the aircraft to take off was immense. The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) was threatened but did not manage to stop its operations since a bomb threat letter was found on an IndiGo Kolkata-Shillong flight. At 9:15 AM, or about 15 minutes before takeoff, one of the crew members discovered a handwritten message in the aircraft lavatory accusing that there was a bomb on the plane. In accordance with the typical aviation safety standards, the Aeroplane was immediately transferred to an isolation bay.

The 60 passengers and four crew members were all safely disembarked. The dog squad, bomb disposal squad of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and a thorough inspection of the cabin and the luggage were carried out by the dog squad. No object of suspicion was detected. Later on, authorities confirmed the threat to be a hoax and the flight was released at 1:33 PM, some four hours later than the scheduled time. The accident highlights the zero-tolerance attitude of the aviation industry when it comes to threats. Immediately after the note was found, the emergency response systems went off.
