RG Kar Row: Kunal Ghosh Accused of ‘Settlement Offer’ by Victim’s Parents

Kolkata: A fresh controversy has erupted in the RG Kar Medical College case, with the parents of deceased doctor Tilottama alleging that Trinamool Congress state general secretary Kunal Ghosh offered them money to settle the matter.

Addressing the media on Wednesday over the defamation notice issued against them, Tilottama’s parents claimed that Ghosh had proposed a monetary settlement. “He tried to close the matter by offering us money. Though he did not visit our home, he said he was ready to pay and asked us to settle,” Tilottama’s mother alleged.

Her father produced his phone before journalists and displayed a WhatsApp chat, in which Ghosh’s name appeared as “TMC Kunal Ghosh.” He said Ghosh had sent him several messages and given advice on multiple issues. However, he admitted that no recording of the alleged monetary proposal exists, as those conversations took place over WhatsApp calls.

Reacting to the charges, Kunal Ghosh dismissed the claims as baseless. “Why bring up such allegations now, after so long? When the court summons comes, present all your evidence before the judge. Don’t create suspense—give the printouts directly to the media,” he said.

Ghosh further claimed that his messages, if made public, would establish his honesty. He added that he had refrained from releasing the chats earlier as he did not want to use Tilottama’s death to build his own public image.
