Drishyam-style murder shocks Mumbai
In a case echoing the plot of the film Drishyam, 35-year-old Vijay Chavan went missing under suspicious circumstances. Days later, police discovered his decomposed body hidden under new floor tiles in his own home. Investigators stated that the murder was carefully planned, and the burial spot had been dug 12 days earlier.
Familyโs suspicion exposes Drishyam-style murder site
Chavanโs brothers, deeply concerned about his disappearance, visited the house and noticed freshly laid tiles that looked suspicious. A strange odor raised further doubts. They alerted the authorities, who removed the tiles and found a plastic-wrapped body buried in a pit. The remains were confirmed to be Chavanโs.
Drishyam-style murder linked to financial motive
According to police sources, Komal Chavan, the victimโs wife, conspired with her partner Monu to eliminate Vijay. The motive was financial. Chavan had recently received โน6 lakh in insurance and transferred home ownership to his wife. She later accessed his bank accounts using OTPs. Both suspects fled the scene.
