RCB Celebration Road Show Stampede in Benguluru : Indian Coach Gautam Gambhir Slams

BENGULURU : Ahead of the IPL winning of RCB, Indian Cricket Team Head Coach Gautam Gambhir slams the victory celebration of the team due to the unforeseen stampede which took many lives.

He went on to say that such gatherings need to be held behind closed doors. 11 people were killed in a stampede during a scheduled celebratory parade on Wednesday, turning Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s celebration of winning their first IPL title in 18 years into a terrible event. Around 5 PM IST, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah congratulated the RCB squad, which included Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, at the Vidhan Soudha. Following this, an open bus procession was scheduled. The area where it was scheduled to happen was surrounded by thousands of people. Tragically, 11 people lost their lives and around 50 more were hurt.

“I was never a believer that we need to have roadshows. Never. When I was playing, I had the same ย statement, even after winning the 2007 T20 World Cup that we should not have road shows. The lives of people are far more important and I will continue to say that. In future we can be little bit aware about not holding these kind of road shows and probably have it in a closed door environment. What has happened is very tragic. My heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones,” Gautam Gambhir added at the pre-departureย press conference ahead of India vs England Test series.
