May 10, 2025 | New Delhi, India

In a swift decision on Friday night, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an urgent air route update. Authorities rerouted several flights departing from Delhi and Mumbai due to rising border tensions between India and Pakistan.

According to officials, the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) system immediately reflected these changes. This ensured airline operators and travelers received up-to-date notifications without delay. Airlines Respond to Sudden Air Route Update

Major airlines including Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo responded quickly. Their operations teams revised schedules to avoid high-risk airspace. Ground staff and pilots received updated instructions to ensure safe travel for all passengers.

The Ministry emphasized that flight safety remained the top priority. Airlines coordinated closely with Air Traffic Control to manage traffic flow and avoid congestion in new corridors.

Government Clarifies Air Route Update Misinformation

To counter growing online speculation, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) issued a strong clarification. Viral messages claiming a full airspace shutdown were declared false. The PIB urged the public to rely only on official DGCA and airline updates for accurate information.

Meanwhile, railway authorities confirmed additional Vande Bharat services to assist travelers facing delays. Buses were deployed at key airports for emergency passenger movement.

Travelers Urged to Stay Alert

Passengers were advised to check their airline apps for real-time notifications. Authorities also suggested arriving early at airports due to expected delays. Extra help desks were deployed at major terminals in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chandigarh.

Airline customer care lines operated around the clock to assist affected travelers.

Coordination Ensures Smooth Response

This air route update highlights India’s preparedness during aviation crises. Strong coordination between DGCA, airlines, and local administrations helped avoid panic and ensure public safety. The situation remains under control, with authorities continuing to monitor regional developments closely.
