Rohit Finding Rhythm, Big Knock Coming: Boucher

Former South Africa cricketer Mark Boucher believes that Rohit Sharma is regaining form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is on the verge of delivering a big innings. Although Rohit has struggled this season, Boucher sees promising signs of a turnaround.

So far, Rohit has failed to cross the 50-run mark in six IPL matches, with his highest being 26 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday.

“Rohit Sharma took it upon himself to go after the bowlers. We saw some of those classic Rohit sixes—big and powerful,” Boucher said while speaking to the IPL broadcaster. “I liked his intent. He applied pressure, created chances, and looked comfortable. He passed the 30-mark, and I think a big score is right around the corner.”

Pandya’s Impact: With Bat and Ball

Boucher also praised Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya, who smashed 21 runs off just 9 balls, including three fours and a six, guiding MI towards an easy win.

“Hardik Pandya remains one of the top all-rounders in world cricket. When he clicks, his team usually ends up on top,” Boucher remarked. “I love how he’s using himself with the ball—not just in the powerplay but in the tougher middle overs, the so-called ‘ugly overs’. And he’s picking up wickets too, which is boosting his batting confidence.”

Will Jacks Steps Up

Commenting on Will Jacks, Boucher noted that the English all-rounder had a slow start but finally showed his potential. “He’s more than just a part-time spinner. He bowled effectively, got important wickets, and that surely lifted his confidence with the bat. There’s no reason he can’t carry this form forward and deliver for MI, just like he has for other teams and for England.”

Ajay Jadeja on Hardik’s Leadership

Former India batter Ajay Jadeja echoed Boucher’s thoughts, highlighting Hardik Pandya’s leadership qualities. “Hardik is a complete package—he bats, bowls, fields, and even off the field, he brings energy. He’s always smiling, and the best thing about him is that he never gives up.”

Jadeja pointed out that Mumbai Indians’ season turned around after their Super Over win against Delhi Capitals on April 16. “That match showed what MI and Hardik are made of. Most teams would have given up, but MI clawed their way back. Tonight’s win was comfortable, but Delhi was the real turning point.”

“When Hardik is at the crease, even if you need 10, 12, or 15 runs an over, you feel the team has a real chance,” Jadeja added.
