Are they humans or monsters?

Incident 1: Palamu, Jharkhand
In Medininagar, Palamu, an 11-year-old disabled girl was raped and murdered. On Wednesday, she left her home at 11 a.m. By 2 p.m., she hadn’t returned, so her family searched for her. CCTV footage showed a neighbor, Tinku Sharma, 35, taking her to his house. When questioned, Sharma avoided answering. Locals broke into his locked home and found the girl’s body—naked, killed with a stone. Sharma had raped her and planned to hide the body, but people caught him first. Angry residents beat him severely. Police arrived, saved him from the crowd, and took him to MMCH hospital for treatment.
That night, protests lasted until midnight. The next day, after the postmortem, people blocked roads, demanding Sharma’s death and the removal of a police officer. They said, “We told the police three hours after she went missing, but they didn’t act. She could’ve lived.” The SDPO confirmed Sharma is in custody, under medical care and police watch.

Incident 2: Delhi
In New Delhi, a court sentenced a man to life in prison for raping a six-year-old girl eight years ago. In 2017, the girl was playing in a park when the man kidnapped her. He raped her, leaving her with serious injuries. She needed surgery and stayed in the hospital for 15 days. On March 25, 2025, Judge Anu Aggarwal gave the verdict. She said, “Child sexual abuse causes lifelong harm to the mind and body. The pain stays hidden but never leaves.” The court used the POCSO Act and showed no leniency, pointing to the crime’s brutality. “He deserves no mercy,” the judge added.

These culprits—Tinku Sharma in Palamu and the man in Delhi—are human by birth. But their actions are monstrous. Raping and killing an 11 Year-old disabled girl is beyond cruel. Attacking a six-year-old in a park is just as evil. They show no kindness or shame, acting like monsters in human skin. It’s not just the culprits. Society is failing too. In Palamu, people said the police ignored their calls for help. If they had acted faster, the girl might be alive. In Delhi, it took eight years for justice—too long for a child’s pain. During Navratri, we pray to goddesses like Durga in house other hand these kinds of acts show society hypocrisy.
The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reported 38,911 child rape and assault cases in 2022—over 100 per day. This was up from 36,381 in 2021. Maharashtra had 6,933 cases, Uttar Pradesh 5,621, and Madhya Pradesh 4,826. About 40% were under the POCSO Act. From 2016 to 2022, these crimes rose by 96%, says CRY, a child rights group. More reporting happens now due to awareness, but it shows the problem is massive. Many cases still stay hidden because of fear or no trust in the police.
Are they humans or monsters? They’re humans who act like monsters. But we’re part of it if we don’t fix this. Faster police, quicker courts, and real protection can change things.
