Double Tragedy:Man Tries Strangling Mother, Kills Self, She Survives

On 21st March,Friday a resident of Elamadu, Kerala named Ranjith (35 yrs old )& his mother Sujatha (58 yrs old) together attempt suicide due to financial distress & her worsening situation. The two allegedly consumed excessive pills on Friday before Ranjith tried to strangle his mother with a shawl. Police said that Reports suggest that Ranjith and Sujatha had agreed to end their lives due to severe financial difficulties and latter’s deteriorating health.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) officials visited the house to disconnect the power supply due to unpaid electricity bills. They heard Sujatha’s faint pleas for water from inside and immediately informed local residents. She was rushed to a hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. During the investigation time, police found out that they don’t have any other relatives.
Reports suggest that Ranjith and Sujatha had agreed to end their lives due to severe financial difficulties and latter’s deteriorating health. Furthermore, a medical advice for a leg amputation due to Sujatha’s advanced diabetes had added to their distress, pushing them into deep mental strain.Sujatha ,is currently undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
