RGKar Case : Even 2 nights ago, a druggie went to the victim where she was sleeping

On August 9, the bloody body of the young doctor was found in the seminar room on the fourth floor of the emergency building of RG Kar. Two days before, a drunken man had gone to the doctor during his rest period. According to the Anandabazar newspaper report, a house staff named Golam Azam opened up about the incident during the hearing of the case against Sanjay Roy.

Meanwhile, the complaint about the drunk person was submitted to the head of the chest medicine department. However, there was no investigation into it at that time.

Golam said that the young doctor was resting at night in the seminar room of the chest medicine department 2 nights before the incident. Allegedly, on that day, someone entered there in a drunken state. At that time the young woman protested.Meanwhile, according to Golam’s statement, on August 8, an outsider was lying on the bench of the procedure room of the chest medicine department. Golam himself informed the young doctor about that person. At that time the young doctor called a Group D worker and asked the person to leave. But who was that person? The investigators have no answer on that. It is not known from the transcript of the judgment that the investigators are looking into that matter.

Meanwhile, according to Golam’s statement in court, he had joined work at around 9 pm on the night of the incident. At 11:10 pm, first-year PGT Ark Sen called him. At that time, Golam was busy with work. After another 10 minutes, Ark called Golam again and told him that the food had arrived. In this atmosphere, he called Golam to the servants’ floor.

That night, four medical students named Golam, Ark Sen, Soumitra Roy and Shubhdeep Singh Mohapatra had dinner with the young woman. According to the transcript of the verdict, Golam claimed that he has night duty at the hospital twice a week. He joined work at 9 pm on the night of the incident. At 11:10 pm, first-year PGT Arko Sen called him. Golam told him that he was busy with work. Ark called him again 10 minutes later. He was told that the food packet had arrived and asked him to come to the chest medicine department on the fourth floor. Golam claimed that the young woman had ordered food herself from an app-based company that night. After receiving Ark’s call, he bought a bottle of water and went upstairs at 11:40 pm. Dinner was eaten in the sleep room. Golam did not see anyone there when he went to the sleep room. After that, when he searched the seminar room, he saw that Ark and Soumitra were there with the young woman.

Golam had called about the patient. Arko had ordered an arterial blood gas test as the patient’s condition had deteriorated. At 2:40 am, Ark went back to the fourth floor. Then at 2:50 am, Golam went to the seminar room to show the test report. At that time, the door of that room was wet. Even though Ark’s name was called, no one responded. Meanwhile, Golam had seen the young woman lying on a mattress on the dias in the seminar room. Later, Golam found Ark in the sleep room. Soumitra was also there at that time. After that, Ark said that after seeing the report, he asked the patient to be discharged. Then, Golam went to the hostel at 3:30 am. He left the hospital in the morning. Later, he learned that the doctor had ‘committed suicide’.

Ark claims that when the young woman did not come to join duty even after 9 am, Soumitra informed him that the young woman could not be reached on the phone. Ark claims that he himself tried to contact her on the phone and when he could not, he went to the seminar room alone to see her. At that time, he saw the bloody, half-naked body of the young woman and rushed to the nursing station and informed the others. Ark claims that when he went to the seminar room that night, the young woman was sleeping wrapped in a red blanket. Her hand was placed on her forehead, near her head.

The court heard that the theory of Ark going to get the bag needs to be investigated. Because he was the first to see the body and inform everyone. The question arose, why would the young woman sleep wrapped in a blanket in the heat of August? The question arose that the timeline given by Golam and Ark does not match! Who was the person who delivered the ordered food? Why was he not tracked down and questioned? Why was the food packet not even found? The court also asked why all four medical students who were at the scene that night were not taken to testify?

In the transcript of the verdict, the judge wrote, “This is a case of rape and murder. No other evidence related to intoxicating or consuming food has emerged in this case.”
