Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Passes Away at 92

New Delhi, December 26, 2024 — Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, passed away at the age of 92 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, on Tuesday. He had been battling age-related medical conditions and succumbed to his illness despite resuscitative efforts.

Dr. Singh was admitted to AIIMS earlier in the evening after his health deteriorated significantly at home. According to the hospital bulletin, he arrived at the Medical Emergency Department at 8:06 PM and was declared dead at 9:51 PM.

“With profound grief, we inform the demise of Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and had sudden loss of consciousness at home on 26 December 2024. Resuscitative measures were started immediately at home. He was brought to the Medical Emergency at AIIMS, New Delhi at 8:06 PM. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived,” stated Dr. Rima Dada, Professor In-Charge of the Media Cell at AIIMS.

Senior Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were present at the hospital to pay their respects to the former leader.

Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, was known for his economic reforms and statesmanship. His tenure saw the country achieve significant economic growth and global recognition. He leaves behind a legacy of service, intellect, and humility.
