NCP ponders bid for 40-45 seats in Karnataka: sources

Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) declared that it could run in the Karnataka election next month just a day after meeting with Congress leaders in the name of “opposition unity.” In areas where the BJP, Congress, and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) are engaged in a triangular race, the NCP plans to run for 40–45 seats in the May 10 Karnataka election.

The Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti and the NCP are anticipated to collaborate in the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area, which has a sizable Marathi population.

With the BJP in power battling charges of corruption and anti-incumbency, the NCP’s presence is most likely to have an effect on its ally Congress, which is optimistic about its chances in this election.
