Fake PMO Officer Walks Into Nabanna! Akanksha Arrested From Delhi Flat, Another Man Held

A woman accused of pretending to be a senior officer of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) managed to enter West Bengal’s high-security state secretariat, Nabanna, and meet the state Public Works Minister. The woman, identified as Akanksha Vidyarthi, was later arrested from Delhi by Howrah City Police.

According to police, Akanksha had taken an appointment with the Public Works Department before visiting Nabanna. She reportedly introduced herself as a PMO official and met Public Works Minister Ajay Poddar. During the meeting, the minister reportedly became suspicious because some of her statements did not match.

Officials then contacted the PMO to verify her identity. The PMO reportedly confirmed that no officer by that name was working there. Following this, the Public Works Department filed a complaint at Shibpur Police Station.

By the time police started investigating, Akanksha had already left Nabanna and travelled to Kolkata airport. She then flew to Delhi. A Howrah City Police team followed her and traced her to a flat in the Anand Parbat area of Central Delhi. She was arrested after questioning. A Delhi court later granted transit remand, allowing police to bring her back to Howrah.

Police are also investigating why she allegedly used a fake PMO identity and whether she was trying to collect government information. Investigators are checking whether anyone else was involved in the incident.

The investigation has now taken another turn. Police have also arrested a man named Abhijit Mahato, who allegedly accompanied Akanksha to the minister’s office.

According to investigators, Mahato has an IT college in Cooch Behar’s Mathabhanga area and may have approached the minister over problems related to the college. Police are questioning him to understand his role in the case.

Police have registered a case involving allegations of cheating and using a false identity. The investigation is continuing to find out whether Akanksha acted alone or whether others were involved.
