Horrific Incident in Bhangar! Was Arabul Targeted for Murder? Former MLA Makes Explosive Allegations Against ISF

Former Bhangar MLA Arabul Islam was allegedly attacked on Friday night, just 24 hours after he announced his decision to leave the Indian Secular Front (ISF).
The incident took place in Uriapara under the Polerhat police station area in Bhangar. Arabul was travelling in his car when it was allegedly targeted with bombs and bricks.
According to Arabul, the attack took place in a dark part of the road. He claimed that two bombs were thrown at his car one after another. At the same time, bricks were also thrown at the vehicle.
A brick hit the car and broke its window. However, Arabul escaped without any injuries. The people travelling with him were also safe.

Arabul said that the attack happened suddenly and that the attackers took advantage of the darkness. People travelling on motorcycles with him also reportedly heard the sound of explosions.

However, it is not yet clear whether the bombs directly hit the car or exploded nearby. Police have also not confirmed whether any bomb fragments or other evidence were recovered from the spot.
After the attack, the driver immediately moved the car away from the area. Police from Polerhat police station later reached the spot and began investigating the incident.

Arabul has filed a written complaint with the police. Investigators are checking CCTV footage from the area to identify the people involved in the attack. Police are also trying to find out who was present in the area at the time of the incident and whether Arabul had received any threats before the attack.
So far, no one has been arrested. Police have also not confirmed the identity of the attackers or the reason behind the alleged attack.

Attack Comes After ISF Exit
The timing of the incident has raised political questions. Just one day before the attack, Arabul had announced on social media that he was leaving the ISF.
In his post, Arabul accused the ISF leadership of behaving in an authoritarian manner. He also alleged that some ISF workers in Bhangar were involved in harassment and wrongdoing against local people.
Arabul said he decided to leave the party in protest against such activities.
According to reports, his relationship with the ISF leadership had become strained after the Assembly election. He was also reportedly absent from several party programmes.
However, there is no confirmed evidence yet that the alleged attack was connected to his decision to leave the ISF. Police have not made any such claim either.Arabul was earlier a well-known Trinamool Congress leader in Bhangar. He had also served as an MLA and had a strong influence in local politics.
Ahead of the 2026 Assembly election, Arabul left the Trinamool Congress and joined the ISF led by Naushad Siddiqui. The party fielded him from the Canning West Assembly seat, but he lost the election.
After leaving the ISF, speculation has started over whether Arabul could return to the Trinamool Congress. However, he has not yet announced his future political plans.

This is not the first time that an attack has allegedly been carried out against Arabul or his convoy.
Before the Assembly election, there were also allegations that his car and supporters were attacked while returning after filing his nomination. Bricks and stones were allegedly thrown at the vehicles, while some party workers were reportedly assaulted.
Police and central forces had reached the area at that time to control the situation.

Bhangar has a long history of political clashes and violence. During elections and political campaigns, the area has witnessed allegations of bomb attacks, firing and clashes between rival groups.
The latest incident has once again raised concerns over political violence in the area.

For now, police are investigating the alleged attack on Arabul’s car. Whether it was a political attack, a personal dispute or linked to his recent decision to leave the ISF remains unclear.
