Weather Alert: Storms and Heavy Rainfall May Lash Bengal

West Bengal is likely to see another spell of bad weather as the monsoon axis remains active across the state. The low-pressure system has moved away, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue in several parts of Bengal.
According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, most districts of South Bengal may receive thunderstorms and rain on Thursday. Strong winds with speeds of around 30 to 40 kmph are also expected during storms.
A yellow alert has been issued for several districts, including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas. People have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds.
The high level of humidity may also make the weather feel hot and uncomfortable. In areas where there is no rain, people may continue to experience sticky and humid conditions.
North Bengal is also expected to receive heavy rainfall. Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri may receive very heavy rain. Darjeeling, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur are also likely to experience thunderstorms and heavy showers.
The combination of strong winds, lightning and heavy rain may affect normal life in several parts of the state. People are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid open areas, trees and electric poles until the weather improves.
