Bengali Hindus Being Turned into Minorities in West Bengal, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of deliberately turning Bengali Hindus into minorities in West Bengal, saying the party doesn’t consider them as its vote bank.

Addressing a rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, Modi alleged that unchecked illegal immigration under the TMC government has altered the state’s demographics, threatening the “roti, beti, and mati” (food, women, and soil) of West Bengal.

Modi criticized the TMC for opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which grants citizenship to Hindu refugees from neighboring countries, saying they prioritize their vote bank over the welfare of Hindus. He also slammed the TMC for alleged protocol lapses during President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to West Bengal.

The TMC has denied the allegations, with Saayoni Ghosh questioning whether Modi or the BJP have any narrative beyond divisive politics. The Assembly elections in West Bengal are expected to take place next month.
