EC Full Bench to Review Bengal Poll Readiness on March 9–10

The Election Commission of India will visit West Bengal on March 9–10 to assess readiness for the upcoming Assembly polls following the special intensive revision of rolls. The team, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is expected to hold a final review on March 10, after which election dates for Bengal and other poll-bound states — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry — are likely to be announced.

Ahead of the visit, Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti reviewed preparations virtually with West Bengal CEO Manoj Agarwal and senior police officials. The Commission will meet election officers, top state police, central security agencies and recognised political parties.

Key directives include uninterrupted power at all booths, mandatory webcasting or videography, stable internet at police stations, GPS tracking of central force vehicles and advance identification of sensitive polling stations. The EC has stressed close coordination among district magistrates and police to ensure smooth and transparent polling.
