NHAI Teams Up With Reliance Jio to Launch Real-Time Highway Safety Alerts

To improve road safety, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has partnered with Reliance Jio to roll out a telecom-based safety alert system across national highways.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced that the new system will provide timely warnings to commuters, helping them adjust speed and driving behaviour before entering potentially hazardous zones.

Under the initiative, travellers will receive advance alerts via SMS, WhatsApp, and high-priority voice calls. The system will be integrated in phases with NHAIโ€™s digital platforms, including the Rajmargyatra mobile app and the 1033 emergency helpline.

The automated alerts will be available to all Jio users driving on or near national highways, giving early hazard warnings and strengthening Indiaโ€™s efforts to make its highways safer and more responsive.
