BCCI: Jaspit Bumrah Gets Selected For Asia Cup 2025
12 August- Kolkata, India: According to some sources, Board of Cricket for Control in India(BCCI) has chosen to include senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the Asia Cup 2025, which begins in the United Arab Emirates on September 9. This appears to put an end to the speculation surrounding Bumrah’s selection.
There were some recent doubts over Bumrah’s selection for the Asia Cup 2025, given that he already missed two of the test matches in the England tour. The latest update is that he suffered a severe knee injury, and the upcoming West Indies Test series is set to begin at home on October 2.
However, Bumrah will still play for the national side in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 according to a report. Since the T20 tournament will begin a month later, and it will give him ample time to rest and recuperate.
BCCI was skeptic on Bumrah’s Return
Due to his knee injury, the BCCI panel already decided to remove him from the two tests against the West Indies to manage his workload. The India vs. West Indies Test series will start on October 2 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, while the Asia Cup final will take place on September 28.
Managing Bumrah’s workload by resting him for the first Test match is the best way, given the short four-day break. As Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh return to play for the national side in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana engage in combat.
Although Rana has shown himself to be a great pacer and a partnership breaker, Krishna, who performed well in the England Test series, also claimed 25 wickets in the IPL 2025.
Shubman Gill set for T20 return
Some rumours claim that Shubman Gill, the current captain of the Indian cricket team, will rejoin the T20 squad as vice captain.
A member of the BCCI also stated, “The last ICC rankings show that Abhishek Sharma is the worldโs No. 1 T20 batter. Sanju Samson performed fantastically last season with both bat and gloves. So it will certainly be a tough call, but the selectors cannot ignore Shubman in his current form (although in Tests). He also had a good IPL. The problem for the selectors is that too many performers are at the top of the order.”
India’s possible Asia Cup 2025 squad: Suryakumar Yadav (capt), Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Tilak Verma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana/Prasidh Krishna, Hardik Pandya, Jitesh Sharma/Dhruv Jurel.
